Rusted Khokhloma

Rusted Khokhloma

Description of the painting "RUSTED KHOKHLOMA"

"Rusted Khokhloma" is a Mixed Media painting, based on Russian Traditional Art of

K.hokhloma https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khokhloma . Keeping Russian Folk, the artist has transformed it to Modem Style, by mixing different techniques on the canvas, as Golden leaf, Ink, Acrylics, Crackling paste, Sand and Oil. All that gave a feeling of small fragment of Khokhloma which has become rusty and cracked throughout the years.

"Rusted Khokhloma" one of the painting of the series "From Traditional to Modem"were created in the most tragic time of my life, that put me back to painting and creation, expression of my inner emotions and feelings.

"Rusted khokhloma"has two deep meaning:

Russian traditional folk art, dying, having only commercial use (that's why its rusted), but you can see small blue (hope color) butterfly, symbolizing endurance and resurrection.

Small gold flower ornament as a power of resistance, representing my soul, choked with grief full of rust ( by my kids being recently kidnapped), and blue butterfly symbolizing hope and love in my life, resurrection, recovery and persistence.

I have been paintinfrom the age of 9 through all my life. started from Art school, than Traditional folk Russian Art on the wood, books illustration for kids, later doing makeup and body art, temporary tattoos but always wasn't satisfied and had a very strong feeling that ihave something deeper inside to express myself,to show, to tech,to help others through my Art, but raising 2 kids and running my own business never really gave me the time to paint for myself, for pleasure.  Until my kids were kidnapped and i had no chance of communication with them anymore.  At the age of 42, I found myself without my family and my home. Leaving through stress, pain, broken heart, wounded soul, being at the deepest life bottom, pushed me to express myself through the Art. All that remains in my life now is my ability to create, to express myself, to put all my feelings and emotions on the canvas. My intentions and goals now are to reach out and convey the meaning of my paintings to people through my art, to let them see and understand it.  would like to expose my painting to as much as possible to peopleto get known and help people through my art to be strong, leave through difficulties and never give up, to believe in themselves.
