I was born in New York City in 1944, the younger daughter of parents who owned a restaurant on Madison Avenue. I married in 1964 and graduated from Hofstra University with a B.A. in English in February of 1965. I taught English at Long Beach High School until 1969, when my daughter was born. My son was born in 1971, and in 1974 we moved to Swampscott, Massachusetts, a seaside suburb north of Boston. I studied pot- tery and glaze chemistry there and became a professional potter in 1978, winning awards for my whimsical pottery, having solo shows, exhibiting at the Boston Design Center and being included in the Goodfellow Catalog of Wonderful Things in 1985. Life intruded, and I spent eight years manufacturing womens belts in my own company in Waltham, MA, called Fashion Technologies.

When I returned to art in 1995, I explored stone carving, sculpture, drawing and then painting, which I studied at the DeCordova Museum School in Lincoln, MA, from 1995 until 2005. I began my long association with the Acorn Gallery School of Art in Marble- head, MA, in 1998, where Debra Freeman Highberger taught me how to paint in the spring of 1999. I have exhibited sculpture, drawings and paintings in the Marblehead Arts Festival every summer from 1998 through 2018. Since 2006, I have exhibited my work at the BallenIsles Art Expo in Palm Beach Gardens, FL every January. On No- vember 29, 2011, a solo exhibition of 24 of my contemporary oil paintings opened in Palm Beach, FL at John DeMedeiros on Worth Avenue. In March of 2012, a still life of mine was included in an exhibition at the Lynn Museum in Lynn, MA to celebrate the

115th anniversary of the Museum and Historical Society. In October of 2013, 35 of my paintings were offered for sale in a Pop-up Gallery exhibition at Loft 227 in New York City. In 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019, my work was included in the “Best of the Clubs” exhibits at the Lighthouse Art Center Museum in Tequesta, FL. One of my tango paint- ings was featured in the juried exhibit of the Salem Arts Festival in June of 2018. Since I first participated in their Figurative 2017 Online Art Exhibition, the Light Space & Time Online Gallery has presented me with eight Special Merit Awards and eighteen Special Recognition honors for my work.

I paint portraits. Whether people, tango dancers, jellyfish, flowers, food--I see them all

as portraits. I’m particularly inspired by movement and find satisfaction in representing it on a static canvas. I like to fill the frame with the image I’m painting, no matter the size

of the canvas or board, and often crop my subjects in interesting ways. Lucky enough to be able to paint whatever interests, inspires and challenges me, I try to learn and grow with each new painting and not squander such good fortune.

Owning a condo in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, since 2005, I moved there full time with my husband at the end of 2018.
