Rakhila Bernikova was born in 1957, Georgia, former Soviet Union. She is a self-thought artist living and working in New York City, USA. From young age, she rebelled against traditional female domesticity and this had great impact on her style and vision of women. “Through disobedience and rebellion to freedom of my mind...". These words speak through her canvases. In her practice, since 2013, she is showing distinctive personal style that emanates beauty and expresses sensuality of femininity through paintings of women in different settings. The most mesmerizing of her canvases show strong, sensual women and at the same time a gentle blend of classicism and avant- garde.
Acrylic paint and pallet knife are her favorite tools to create her strong and wild femmine and expressive women. In each of her paintings she feels a sense of herself. She lives some of her paintings with no title to allow the viewer to play a role.
