South African artist, Leodolf Nel, creates imagined humans, drawing inspiration from his life in the Far-East and Africa, and his perceived view of the times we are living in.
Leodolf works mainly with charcoal and oil, starting each work with a rough frame, shaping and reshaping the image, exposing the raw nature of his subjects.
Working fast and intuitively, lines flow freely. The creation process gives the artist a great sense of calm and purpose.
With an ever-evolving style, Leodolf aims to engage the audience on an emotional level, depicting the story of ‘US’ in an honest and somewhat bizarre way.
