Janin Walter is a Berlin based artist, who developed her interest for spaces already during her Architecture studies. Following her graduation from her Architecture studies at 2004 at TU Berlin, Janin Walter worked for several years as an urban designer in Holland and Switzerland, using artistic methods to visualize spaces and designs. After that, from 2007-2009, she studied Space Strategies at the School of Art Weißensee.
Parallel to her studies she worked for well known artists like Olafur Eliasson, Jorinde Voigt and Jeppe Hein. After completing her studies, she was an assistant professor for at the Department of Fine Arts / Institute of Architecture at TU Berlin from 2010-2015.
As a visiting professor at RISEBA in Riga, Latvia she taught a course on artistic methods in planning in 2013.
Since 2010, she received several grants to participate in Artist in Residence programs including, among others, Guangzhou/ China in 2010 and 2011, Hong Kong in 2012, Riga / Latvia in 2013 and Muscat/Oman in 2017.
The artist exhibited her artworks in many solo- and group-exhibitions in Europe, Asia, USA and the Middle East.
She is part of the collective art space STUDIO BAUSTELLE.
This art space is curating 6-8 art exhibitions per year and is participating in citywide festivals such as 48 hours Neukölln or B-LA connect.
